Dr Eric Garling is the Senior Director of AI Research at Stryker, and an accomplished professional with over 15 years of experience in the medical technology industry.
He started his career at Leiden University Medical Center as a Researcher where he received a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences and later transitioned into roles at Medis Specials b.v., serving as a Business Development Manager. He also co-founded ClinFact b.v., a university spin-off contract research organisation specialising in quantitative image analysis and research in orthopaedics, pulmonology, and cardiology.
In 2017, Eric joined Stryker as Senior Director of Medical & Scientific Affairs Europe, leading strategic research planning and execution efforts for joint replacement implants and Mako robotics in the region. As a member of the Global R&D Leadership team, he collaborated on new R&D programs and regulatory strategies and provided feedback on commercialised products.
In 2021, he was promoted to Senior Director of Data Intelligence at Stryker. He led a team responsible for data engineering, analytics, data science, and computer vision capabilities within the company's global technology organisation.
Since December 2022, he serves as the Global Senior Director of AI Research at Stryker, focusing on leveraging data and AI to optimise patient care and streamline healthcare operations. His passion is to drive innovative solutions and improvements in the medical technology industry to make health care better.
